I was ecstatic when Anish and Carling informed me that they would be having a Hindu ceremony at the Shri Venkateshwara Maha Vishnu Temple!  I have photographed Sikh weddings before, but not yet a Vivaah Samskar.  I took part in my best friend’s Hindu wedding ceremony when she got married in Vancouver, so I was familiar with the process and excited to photograph all the beauty.

Carling’s family is of Irish decent, and I loved seeing her family fully embrace the Hindi culture and they looked amazing in their beautiful colourful sarees.  Seeing the two families come together to celebrate Carling and Anish’s union was so heartfelt.  It was such an honour for me to photograph, and although it was difficult to narrow it down to a handful, here are some of my favourite moments from part 1 of their wedding.

Special thank you to my partner in crime, Frances, for second shooting for me and eating as much Indian food as I did 🙂

One sneak peek of this beautiful and loving couple – congratulations Mandy and Jason on the most beautiful Sikh wedding I have ever seen!

I was THRILLED when Mandy told me that herself and Jason wanted to hire me to photograph their Sikh wedding!  I love documenting the story of their celebrations signifying the importance of tradition and culture of their families.  Mandy blew me away with her gorgeousness when I saw her, I was at a loss for words, and Jason looked so very stylish and handsome in his suit and red socks.  Best of all, their friends and family were super nice to me, I had a BLAST with them and have already shed tears at the engagement party so I’m going to bring some kleenex to all their other ceremonies to be better prepared next time.  Here are some highlights from their engagement party at Old Orchard Hall in Port Moody.  Enjoy!!
